Shoulder screws, also known as shoulder or stripper bolts, have a smooth unthreaded shaft that acts as a spacer or bearing surface between the threaded portion and the screw head. Shoulder screws with round shafts are commonly used for items that require rotation, while those with square shafts are typically used to lock into place and prevent rotation.
Vented Socket Shoulder Screws, created to ISO 7379 and also referred to as shoulder bolts or precision shoulder screws. They host a plain, un-threaded shoulder section located between the head and the thread.
The plain shouldered section is larger in diameter than the threaded section of the fastener, and this allows the product to commonly be used as a pivot, shaft or stationary guide in applications such as pulleys, cams, gears and latches, as well as much more. The outside head of the screw is usually knurled, allowing for better manual tightening and grip from the user.
These vented socket shoulder screws are measured differently than most other socket fasteners. When specifying a standard socket button, a user would specify the diameter, as well as the total length required under the head. With this product, the threaded length is a constant – the variable is the length of the unthreaded larger diameter.
Available from Quanyuan Fastener in Steel grade 12.9, and A2 and A4 Stainless Steel. Sizes from M5 to M20, with lengths ranging from 6mm to 120mm.
Please note: M5 is the threaded diameter, and the shoulder diameter will be larger.
Non-standard sizes, materials and finishes are available to order as specials, including small volume manufacture, modifications and bespoke parts made to drawings. Minimum order quantities apply.
